Theuns Jordaan fought his way up the ladder to the top of a successful musical career; his music career did not just fall into his lap like some manna from heaven. The musician moved from the Eastern Cape to Pretoria, South Africa, after earning a psychology degree from university, in 1998. He started working in a recording studio to create his debut album, Vreemde Stad.
The album was made available to the public at Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees in Oudtshoorn two years later. In order to keep his body and soul alive before he became famous, Jordaan tried his hand at a number of odd occupations, particularly in restaurants.
